Could have really used some of these at artspace last night. Dirtfoot got the place all cranked up. It was the opening reception party for the POP! exhibit.
I’ve been vending fans and other Shreveport related items at the Barnwell Center’s events. I’m headed there this morning.

The Barnwell Center on Shreveport’s riverfront is hosting Hot Jazz on the Red on Thursday nights through June 24. Folks bring picnic dinners and bottles of wine or just tote in fast food and buy beverages from the cash bar.
I’ll be vending there. Tried to figure out what folks would really need during the summer. Inspiration struck when I saw a couple of ladies fanning themselves with folded pieces of paper. And that’s how Folk Art Fans were born.
We took the Red Velvet Elvis Prayer Cloth to downtown Shreveport where the Municipal Memorial Auditorium is located. Here’s the story behind the Red Velvet Elvis Prayer Cloth.

Elvis only made one commercial during his life. It was for Southern Maid Donuts when he was on The Louisiana Hayride.
Elvis performed the commercial on November 6th, 1954. He sang the jingle “You can get them piping hot after 4 P.M., you can get them piping hot, Southern Maid Donuts hits the spot, you can get them piping hot after 4 P.M.” Elvis frequented the Shreveport store for donuts on his visits to the Louisiana Hayride.
When you visit Shreveport you gotta eat some Southern Maids! Just don’t use your Red Velvet Elvis Prayer Cloth to sop up any gooey goodness!

We’ve added more items to our Blayne Marie Designs Etsy store. You can now get a King Cake Baby Voo Doo Doll Brooch there.
To get an idea how big one of the brooches are I took advantage of the afternoon sun yesterday and convinced my neighbor to pin one in her hair.

Hadn’t thought about them as hair accessories but this looks so sweet, I’m brewing up ideas. Isn’t dancing with the muse of inspiration always fun and unpredictible?

Here’s a tiny film on what the RVEPC is all about.
I shot it in front of Shreveport’s Municipal Memorial Auditorium. It was a a challenge to hold the camera and do the talking.

Have we got something exciting planned for folks who can’t get enough of Elvis. We’re calling them Red Velvet Elvis Prayer Cloth.
We’re busy hand making them in our Highland studio to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Elvis Presley first performing at The Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The red velvet squares are accented with small replicas of the poster advertising Elvis’s last appearance on the Louisiana Hayride. Each one comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Stay tuned. Also we’re thinking about going as Zombie Elvis’s this Halloween. Woot!

In the mean time Katee and I are off to buy some new shelves for her. She’s working on getting ready to go back to college this fall.
